I think I’ve shot a wedding at almost every kind of venue imaginable. The Boston Public Library is one of the places I look forward to going back to. It has all the history of Boston, amazing classic architecture, and different feel from any other venue in the New England area. Your guests will get to experience several different rooms and spaces throughout the library. I think it makes a wedding a fun experience for guests from out of town! All the weddings I have shot at the BPL had the ceremony in the courtyard in different arrangements. I’ve shot a few engagement sessions at the library as well. It is a fantastic place to just do engagement photos if you want to have the BPL be part of your wedding without having your wedding there!
With the BPL being situated in Copley Square you are getting not only the history of the library itself, but of the city of Boston. If you want to head to the Boston Public Garden for photos it is close enough in proximity to do so. The library has so many great spaces to photograph in that it usually is not necessary to leave the property to get everything we need though! I usually run out of time to work in the spaces that are there! Depending on the light and time of day there are always new spots in and around the library that I find for photographs. Some places such as the entrance seem to stand out no matter what time of day it is. The library is truly a unique space with nothing quite like it. If you are a fan of history, architecture, or books, definitely consider Having a Boston Public Library for your downtown wedding.
