I was a frequent visitor of Crane Beach before the Crane Estate became one of my favorite wedding venues on the Massachusetts coast. Behind the beach on Castle Hill there is an amazing historical site that can be rented for your wedding! If you are a history buff or love a venue with build in charm this is the place for your wedding. From wikipedia “The former summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard T. Crane, Jr., the estate includes a historic mansion. It has 21 outbuildings, and designed landscapes overlooking Ipswich Bay. Its name derives from a promontory in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, where many early Massachusetts Bay Colony settlers immigrated.”
The Crane Estate wedding at Castle hill has all the magic and beauty any couple could dream of. The beautiful view, the architecture, the gardens, all combine to give your event a classy and elegant feel! I’ve shot several weddings there and as soon as I arrive I am reminded of why this is a premiere venue for a New England wedding. I am always finding new places to shoot and depending on the weather it can feel like a different venue every time. This isn’t the place for a large wedding, but a more intimate venue for family and loved ones.
One of my favorite weddings we’ve shot at the Crane Estate was an extremely foggy day. The view was not as grand as the whole castle was enveloped in a cloud. At first my couple was a little bummed that the view was gone. I assured them that their photos would not look like most weddings there. They quickly realized how romantic their wedding photos felt as the fog allowed for some truly unique opportunities. Roomer has it that the estate will be phasing out weddings as the years go on to preserve the estate. If you are lucky enough to land one of their few dates available each year and want a photographer who is intimately involved with weddings at the Crane Estate at Castle Hill, please give me a call!
